SUSTAINABILITY

AN EVENT FOR OUR FUTURE

UK Space Conference 2023 and the ICC Belfast are committed to making sure that the event is as sustainable as possible.

There is a wide array of initiatives that are being implemented throughout the venue and at the event to reduce our impact on the planet. This includes:

Across the venue

  • Working with local suppliers for all catering
  • Using LED technology across at least 50% of the building
  • Introducing a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant
  • Committing to over half of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set in 2015 by the United Nations (UN)
  • Working towards the wider city of Belfast's goal of "to transition to an inclusive, zero emissions economy in a generation."
  • Targeted increases in use of environmentally friendly products
  • Working towards sending 0% of waste to landfill
  • Living wage foundation employer, including suppliers

For this event

  • Encouraging all attendees to bring their own reuseable water bottle
  • Sourcing event lanyards sustainably and collecting them for recycling at the end
  • Working with local organisations post-event to ensure that as little goes to landfil as possible, whether it's through reusing, repurposing or recycling

ICC Belfast was the first venue on the island of Ireland to become Green Meetings certified, receiving the Silver Award.
