Sarah became Director of RAL Space in 2022 and leads around 350 expert staff to deliver science and technology programmes for the UK space sector. She started her academic career as an astronomer and planetary scientist, helping define UK and European strategies for solar system science before moving into delivery of hardware programmes for scientific missions such as Solar Dynamics Observatory, GOES and Solar Orbiter. She is a passionate advocate for continuous improvement, ED&I and the importance of skills development in the space sector.
