Mike is currently the Head of Science Projects at the European Space Agency, having responsibility for on-quality, on-time, on-cost delivery of projects under development including JUICE (Jupiter’s icy moons), Euclid (dark matter/energy), PLATO (search for exoplanets), Ariel (search for exoplanets), EnVision (Venus exploration) and LISA (gravitational waves). Mike previously held several senior positions in Airbus/Astrium, including being the Site Director of the satellite manufacturing facility in Portsmouth, Director of Navigation, Head of Earth Observation, Navigation and Science, UK., and Chief Procurement Officer. Mike graduated in Electronics Engineering in 1984 at Leeds University and stayed on to complete a PhD in the microwave solid state group in 1988. He obtained an MBA from Southampton University in 1997. Mike is married with three children.
