This session would explore an interesting metaphorical link between the fundamentals of orbital mechanics and staff retention. Using the analogy of a satellite (a staff member) orbiting around the Earth (an organisation), this session would highlight the complexity of maintaining perfect ‘orbits’ and some of the common mistakes that organisations make when trying to retain staff. This session will also cover some of the people management strategies that organisations can deploy to keep their staff ‘orbiting’ happily, or risk them reaching ‘escape velocity’ and leaving them for good.
