The Space Skills Survey showed that 52% of organisations have skills gaps in their current workforce, particularly with respect to software and data skills. 97% of organisations said that skills gaps are affecting business performance and growth, not to mention increasing the workload for existing staff (72%). The challenge is made more difficult due to the evolution of skills needs, with 50% of organisations expecting their skills needs will be different in three years’ time. The Space Workforce Action Plan is currently being co-developed by industry, academia and government for publication in 2024.
