Professor John Remedios is Executive Director of the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) and a Professor in Earth Observational Science at the University of Leicester. He is a Physicist with collaborations across Chemistry, Geography and Biology. He has nearly 40 years experience is in satellite systems for observing the Earth: climate, land and ocean temperatures, atmospheric gases, land-atmosphere coupling, EO data algorithms, industral collaborations. He is Chair of the TRUTHS Mission Advisory Group and PI of the ATSR series of instruments. He is an adviser to government (UK Space Agency, DSIT and Defra), including advisory committees (e.g. EOAC), Space4Climate, the UK international GEO/CEOS office and he supports the Space Partnership. He is a member of the UKRI Space Co-ordination Group.
The NCEO is a trusted research centre with world-leading staff in universities and research labs who provide the UK with national capability and national project leadership in EO. Its major stakeholder is the Natural Environmental Research Council, part of United Kingdom Research and Innovation.
