Harshbir joined the UK Space Agency in December 2018 to lead the Copernicus Programme. Through the UK-EU Trade Negotiations, Harshbir negotiated an agreement in principle for the UK to continue its participation in the programme. In July 2021, Harshbir became ‘Director of Growth’ at the Agency, leading work to deliver the innovation and business environment that enabled growth of capabilities required to meet the UK’s space ambitions. Since April this year, Harshbir has been ’Director of Missions and Capabilities at the UK Space Agency where he leads on Earth Observation, Low Earth Orbit and Space Security and Resilience, including safety and security of space critical national infrastructure.
