James Carpenter is Moon and Mars science lead for ESA’s Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration. He has worked on exploration projects with ESA since 2008 and is now involved in activities across the exploration programme including international cooperations on Artemis and the Gateway. Prior to joining ESA James worked at the University of Leicester on space instrumentation including the MIXS instrument for BepiColombo. James has a PhD in space instrumentation Physics and an MPhys degree, both from the University of Leicester.
