Rob has spent over 40 years developing new technology for the space industry, bringing several innovations to the space domain and building businesses around them. Rob is a engineer with a specialisation in Thermo-Fluid Dynamics, but also has an Executive MBA from Warwick Business School and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Engineers in 2018.
Over the last five years he has been building a company called Lacuna Space which he co-founded with Thomas Telkamp. This company is bringing IoT connectivity to remote areas using Low-Power Wide Area Networks in combination with low-cost LEO satellites and has flown five satellites to date. These enable a wide variety of applications which have sensors that are beyond the reach of conventional networks, such as smart agriculture and animal tracking.
Rob is also Chairman of Oxford Space Systems, a company that provides deployable antennas and structures for satellite missions and is an advisor to several other innovative space start-ups.
